IVP Track & Field 2023/24:
Kicking Off the Year with the Varsity Team
The athletes of FWCC kicked off the new year with an electrifying performance at the Institute-Varsity Polytechnic (IVP) Track & Field Championships 2024, held from January 10th to 14th. Competing with vigour and determination, our team from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), coached by Coach Dillon Lee, delivered outstanding results, making us proud and setting a high bar for the rest of the year.
Vanessa Sam: Double Gold Sensation
Leading the charge was our dynamic Year 3 runner, Vanessa Sam. Known affectionately as our "pocket rocket," Vanessa defied expectations with her impressive victories in the Women’s 1500m and 5000m events. Clocking in at 5:08.04 for the 1500m and 20:22.69 for the 5000m, she secured double gold—a testament to her relentless drive and exceptional talent.
Ng Kai Yi: A Star on the Rise
Year 1 student Ng Kai Yi made a remarkable debut, capturing double silver in her first IVP appearance. She finished the 5000m just behind Vanessa with a time of 20:45.40 and then went on to secure silver in the 10,000m with a time of 45:24.54. Kai Yi’s stellar performance as a newcomer promises a bright future for our team.
Kenneth Ho: A Final Year to Remember
In his final IVP Track & Field Championship, final-year student Kenneth Ho showcased his experience and versatility. Competing in the Men’s 3000m Steeplechase, he earned a silver medal with a time of 10:56.82. He also took home a bronze in the 1500m, finishing in 4:19.91. Kenneth’s dedication and skill have left a lasting legacy for our team.

The extraordinary performances by Vanessa, Kai Yi, and Kenneth mark a spectacular start to the year for our FWCC team at NTU. Their achievements not only highlight their individual talents but also signal a promising and thrilling year ahead for the entire FWCC team.
