“ I started training as a mid-distance runner in May 2024 with FWCC after a two-year break from training and competing. My focus is on mid-distance events like the 800m and 1500m, and I've been competing in track since Secondary 1. Coming back from a two-year hiatus was tougher than I expected. There were many moments when I doubted my decision to continue in this sport and considered quitting altogether.
Thankfully, Coach Fabian was extremely patient with me and provided a training plan to gradually rebuild my base and fitness without overwhelming me. Furthermore, he assured me that I was making the right choice and offered constant encouragement. He would also provide me with personalized feedback and support which were invaluable as I essentially started from scratch again.
It's now been around two months, and while I'm still far from my peak fitness, I have seen significant improvements in my training. Coach Fabian’s training programs are well-thought-out, balancing speed, base building, and strength—essential elements for a mid-distance runner.
Beyond the physical improvements, I also feel more confident in my decision to return to this sport under Coach Fabian’s guidance. I'm incredibly grateful that he accepted me into the team despite my low fitness level. In addition, I also enjoy the team spirit within FWCC. The supportive spirit and camaraderie within the team make training more enjoyable and push me to improve.
Moreover, Coach Fabian goes out of his way to have talks and meetings with us, giving us a deeper understanding of his training program. He is open to feedback and suggestions, tailoring the training program to our individual needs. His dedication ensures we receive the best possible training for his athletics.
Overall, despite joining FWCC recently, I am deeply thankful for Coach Fabian and the other coaches. Their professionalism and passion for the sport are inspiring. I look forward to growing further as an athlete and as a person in the time to come. “
